Don’t leave the soap sitting in water between uses - use a soap saver.
This soap was inspired by Tending the Wild Forest Garden, a permaculture farm in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts. Farmer Suzanne very generously gifted us the fat from seven heritage pigs. The pigs cleared a half acre of old pasture for planting 200 wildflower species for native bee habitat, and they ate a diet of apples, chestnuts, acorns and forage. This is special soap, indeed.
Thanks to Alprilla Farm in Essex Massachusetts, we now have on offer 4 types of soap in our Local TAO Collection. The bars were produced as part of Forest Karma’s Sustainable Soap Initiative, which seeks to make use of local fats and oils as an alternative to tropical oils. And fortunately for us, in addition to being a sustainable alternative to palm oil, tallow makes for a lovely hard bar of soap that will hold up to the non-stop hand washing that has become de rigueur in 2020.
